Intermediate Object 01 explores the shared concepts of desire and value between two species (specifically an Australian bowerbird and the general public in the UK). The project begins with research into an individual bowerbird (‘Errol’), housed in Melbourne Museum, and his collection of blue plastic objects. The object’s shape reference street furniture in central London, hoping to act as souvenirs to the public. These shapes were carefully selected to be desirable to both Errol and the public, and practical for them both to collect. Intermediate Object 01 has been exhibited alongside the other objects in the series, at the Royal College of Art and Birmingham Open Media in 2019. The series has been discussed in greater length in a conversation with Ned Dodington of the Expanded Environment here.
